I usually walk home from Clayton station along Carnish road. For the past 1 week this aggressive magpie swoops closer to my head clicking its beak. It has happened 4 times so far and I was lucky to escape without any injuries. Have decided to change my walking route.
A very large sitting on a house mailbox/brickwork started chasing for more than 100, only stopped chasing once I passed the starting point of the chase. No injuries but it scary as this magpie looked particularly menacing attacking me many times.
It swooped out of nowhere and hit me hard in the side of the face and neck, at first i though someone had thrown something at me..like a big bean bag.
It didnt make a sound. Went for my ear and pecked it, which was painful but didnt draw blood. It would have ripped out an earring had i been wearing them.
Fortunately no second swoop
I was cycling quite slowly when something strongely hit my helmet. I'm French, it was my first magpie attack, hopefully I had heard about it. So I tripled my speed, and the bird did not hit me anymore.
