there is a magpie nest on top of the lamp post. everytime if you walk near or under this lamp post the magpie family will attacked you. I had been attacked twice since last week.It was not only me but also my husband had experienced once. but we got no injury just shocked and a little scratch on my head. I must wear sunglasses and stick or umbrella with me all time if i walk near them.
Quite an agro currawong! Swooped me going in and coming home from work on my bike. Even when I got off to walk! Suggest you cross the street to avoid it! It came for me several times! I also saw it try to go another unsuspecting cyclist! Its definitely a currawong too. I've never witnessed this before as I always thought people got currawongs and magpies confused. Now i know either will swoop. Crickey!
Cycling towards the skate board park on Emu Bank, saw this giant of a magpie fly up to the tree near the Belconnen Arts Centre. Having read about it on this website, I was kind of ready and kept an eye on it. As soon as I turned to look at where I was going, I sensed the silent tension in the air as I cycled towards Prince Palace. I believe it went for my left ear but missed, because I heard a massive clicking of the beasty beaks. I swerved massively due to the shock and surprised but I was okay as no cars were around at 6.30am in the morning. I screamed like a girl and pedalled like crazy thanks to my heart rate going up by 100%.
When will it stop, I wonder.
