Magpie attack on Cyclist - Drake Brockman Dr after MacNaughton St, Higgins ACT 2615
My husband was walking the dog with our 2 children, the children were on a bike and a scooter ahead of him. The children were both swooped with the magpie making contact with their helmets. The magpie swooped from a ground position, not above them and stopped when my husband approached with a large branch. It only swooped the children while on their bike and scooter.

I was zooming along on top gear, slowing down because I was getting close to the road, when it darted out of the bushes and started the chase. I slowed down and look back to see if he was going to swoop. He did but i narrowly escaped by crossing the empty road.

Magpie attack on Cyclist - 25 Cockle St, O'Connor ACT 2602
Heading south on Cockle St toward Black Mountain School. Persistent swooping and close follow for 100-150m. A number of strikes to the helmet, and snapping beak. A cranky one! No injury or contact other than helmet. This guy appears have only started swooping (or just me) in the last few days. No swooping last week on the same route.

Magpie attack on Walker - Dawson Park, Slim Dusty Circuit, Gungahlin ACT 2912
A particularly vicious magpie inhabits this park! I climbed the hill and he kept swooping me most of the way, then swooped me on the way down, and I also saw him swoop another cyclist. The park does have warning signs so at least I'd been expecting it.

Walking North to Canberra Centre. Magpie swooped from behind. Hit me on the leftmost side of the eyebrow and cheek. It was bleeding from the scratch. Attacked me the second time on the right shoulder. Walked quickly away with a wooden stick up.

Magpie attack on Walker - Jerrabomberra Av opp AGSO, Jerrabomberra ACT 2609
Magpie nesting in a tree next to the gravel walkway into the Geoscience Australia building. Mainly seems to swoop me after I turn east to enter GA property. Aggressive swooper but has not made contact (yet). The best way to avoid it would probably be entering Geoscience Australia from the south side (bus-stop side) - well into the grassed area, then back to the road to avoid having to climb down the hill. Crossing at the creek on the north side doesn't work to stop swooping.

Magpie attack on Cyclist - 71 Woodfull Loop, Gordon ACT 2906
Both of them started on the ground and quickly took flight when I got near the tree. I think they freaked out that no-one was on the nest. They made a big racket and circled a few times, but didn't dive-bomb.
