Was walking through park over road from home amongst trees for cover when this magpie swooped on me from behind. This magpie clipped me behind the ear &; drew blood. This is a sneaky one as it was silent &; you don't know it's attacked until it gets you. There is signage from the local council alerting residents that an attacking bird is nesting nearby.
I was walking with my 5 year old daughter who was on her bike when we were swooped over a multiple times. I couldn't tell if there was more than one bird as there were brief breaks between swoops. I think it was the bike which made the bird swoop and the fact that there was only one bike. There were groups of cyclists riding past and walkers who were not getting swooped.
Beware: Regular attacks on bikeway at Gordon Park from under Gilbert road bridge towards Damon road. I have been swooped on four times now cycling on Kedron Brook in both directions. It's the same magpie and he sits on the lamppost awaiting his targets. I can almost guarantee that he will strike when I reach this same spot riding under the Gilbert road overbridge 50m towards Damon road. Unfortunately cable ties on helmet don't work :-(
