Cycled to cricket ground, swooped en-route and after leaving. Same Magpie was aggressive and staring whilst at grounds for approx. 45mins. Upon leaving Magpie swooped several times and hung just above helmet for approx. 800m. Attempted to stop and walk but a collision ensured. Minor Injuries.
Attacked while walking!! This was one aggressive bird. Swooped at me from behind to right ear drawing blood &; trying to grab my sunglass arm, then repeated attack 3 times while I attempted to save myself by running. Also got my husband in the same area but on left ear. This bird is a devious, aggressive, coward!!! Avoid at all costs.
There is a small clearing in the trees along the walking track where the houses are set back a little but the clearing has a small light blue fibro dwelling with an awning on the left which is closer to the track than the houses. A lovely lady has this as her art studio and helped me at the time. The first couple of swoops were just before I came out of a bunch of trees to the clearing, just before the blue dwelling heading east so my guess is the nest is in the bunch of trees along side of the track (west of the blue dwelling). No injury. The pecks were fairly mild but I do not want to experience that again! Terrifying!
There's a magpie on Merry Creek bike path just north
of Coburg Lake attacking riders. It's had several goes at me, yesterday 13/10 was the worst, however today I foiled it by pointing my helmet AyUps straight backwards. Beware. Video posted to MagpieAlert Facebook page.
I was swooped twice and there was lots of shrieking (from the magpie - though I was tempted to let rip as well). Then when I thought I was safe I turned down a side street next to the park and he swooped again - another two or three times. No contact made.
