I was walking along the walking track at Kirra heading north. It was on the footpath when i passed it (in front of the picnic table near the public toilets next to the North Kirra Surf Club) and soon after it swooped. It made the clicking noise close to the top of my head but didn't touch my head. After it swooped it perched on top of the light pole in front of the picnic table.
Beware this Magpie that scratches first without warning- goes for your left ear. It hit hard and fast twice and I had to walk up the street backwards (facing it) so it wouldn't do it again. Ear was scratched/bitten twice and bleed quite a bit. Avoid this area if you can or wear a big hat.
Magpie swooped myself 4 year old 2 year old and dog 6 times as we approached the playground and we had to flee without a play as he continuosly swooped whilst we walked across the play ground. We approached from the bike path after coming out under the bridge and had to quickly head for the IGA shops. We were swooped until we had reached the middle of the road
Second attack in the same day, this time coming up Lower Plenty Road towards Waiora Rd- Another hard peck/impact to crown of head, decent amount of blood. Very aggressive bird, worst attacks in 5 years. I tired to avoid the maggie by coming up via St James Road but it found me. Will be avoiding the area entirely and not using Rosanna Station.
