Magpie attack on Walker - 1 Abbott St, Alphington VIC 3078

Injured:No

I walk the Darebin Creek Trail often and was about to use the Abbott St exit when I saw two cyclists ahead of me - and a magpie swooping them! An older lady was walking toward me and had seen it, groaning in effort to get away from the magpie. As the cyclists were gone by this point, I kept a watchful eye out as the magpie did not chase them. Instead, it flitted between branches in the trees and then noticed me. It had rained earlier so I brought my umbrella. The magpie began its call as it saw me but as I had been swooped before in the past I remembered to walk backwards while watching it, making no sudden movements. It gave a 'warning' swoop. I opened my umbrella instinctively and walked backwards, continuing to watch it. It swooped again but I had left the area by then.
