Battling the birdie on Cuthberts Rd, Alfredton, Victoria... and getting some great footage in the process! :-)

Having been swooped many times while out cycling recently by this particularly vicious maggie, I decided to get some video footage in order to show people exactly how aggressive she is.

So with one cam on my helmet and two on the handlebars, I headed out... and she DID NOT disappoint!!

With my head, eyes and ears protected, I wasn't too concerned when I felt her smack into my helmet... repeatedly (6 swoops within 28 seconds!)... but when I reviewed the video & saw how intent she was on attacking my eyes and face, it really gave me pause.

I, for one, will definitely be avoiding THAT area of the countryside until "swooping season" is over!

Statistics aside, looking at just the thumbnail this magpie is definitely male, you can clearly see the white patch on his back. Females are noticeably greyer.

Cheers, winzora, :-) Re: whether it's M or F; someone mentioned that on YouTube but unfortunately I'd already put the "she" in the vid so couldn't change it. Mind u, wikipedia states "99% of magpies who swoop are male", so I'm happy to pretend this is one of the 'elite" 1 percenters. :-) If u're interested, I got some more footage of this same bird attacking me just y/day.
