Attacked while cycling. Ear pecked & caused bleeding. Chased hundreds of metres down Bunya Rd repeatedly pecked and scratched on helmet and back, worst magpie I have encountered. Very dangerous...

I walked home and I got swooped by a magpie. It hit me from behind and it resulted in an injury behind my left ear. I was bleeding and was in shock as it hit me quite hard.

Was swooped here last year multiple times where Moons Ln joins Rafting Ground Rd so was watching out for him. Silent assasin came from nowhere and I felt his beak on my hair through one of my helmet slots....

The bird is now aggressive and I was stuck in the back of the head (whilst wearing a ball cap) and still managed to inflict a puncture wound. Bird has been reported to Yass Valley Council.

Magpies are protected throughout Australia, and it is against the law to kill the birds, collect their eggs, or harm their young. If you feel a magpie is a serious menace, it should be reported to your local council.
